Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Policy

Adopted by the Board of Directors, June 2019

At Keep It Colorado, we believe that diversity, equity and inclusion are essential to success. We respect differences in race, sex, ethnicity, religion, age, national origin, color, military status, sexual orientation, gender identity, physical and mental ability, and socioeconomic background, as well as differences in thinking and working style among our employees, volunteers, board members and partners. In these differences lie unique talents and strengths that will make the conservation community a truly cohesive and collaborative space. Embracing these differences allows us to come together with new perspectives and innovative ideas that will help Keep It Colorado be the unified voice for conservation.

Keep It Colorado makes every effort to expand our diversity and be as equitable and inclusive as possible. We make this policy actionable through the following:

  • Staff and Board Recruiting Processes

    • Ensuring that our job descriptions and posting language are inclusive of all backgrounds and education levels.

    • Committing to recruitment efforts among populations that are underrepresented at the staff and board levels.

  • Partnership Development

    • Developing working relationships with communities that are underrepresented in conservation.

  • Training and Evaluations

    • Engaging staff and board members to participate in a formal diversity, equity and inclusion training at least once every 3 years.

    • Discussing diversity, equity and inclusion and progress with this policy at the board level quarterly.

    • Evaluating progress with this policy as a key performance indicator for staff and board annually.
