The Keep It Colorado Board of Directors today announced that Robyn Paulekas has been selected as the organization’s new Executive Director. Paulekas will begin in the role on June 2.
“We are thrilled to welcome Robyn to Keep It Colorado,” said Jim Petterson, Keep It Colorado’s Board Chair and Vice President, Mountain West Region, for Trust for Public Land. “Her background, passion for conservation and deep understanding of Colorado make her the right person to drive forward the organization’s statewide vision to double the amount of private land conservation in the state over the next 10 years.”
Paulekas has worked for the past 14 years with the Summit County-based Meridian Institute as a facilitator, mediator and expert in collaborative problem-solving, both nationally and locally. Her work has advanced solutions for land and water management, climate resilience, and sustainable agriculture. Her experience includes leading the Western Rangeland Data Initiative to enhance ranch and rangeland sustainability, and an initiative focused on collaborative river restoration strategies in the western United States. In Colorado, she partnered with the Department of Natural Resources in a process that resulted in the creation of the Keep Colorado Wild pass, which generated significant new funding for conservation and outdoor recreation in Colorado. She is widely recognized for her ability to foster trust and common ground among farmers and ranchers, conservationists, agency leaders, tribal representatives, and community stakeholders.
“I’m honored to join Keep It Colorado and build on its strong foundation. Colorado’s private lands are essential to the health of our ecosystems, economy, and communities. I look forward to working with the coalition to ensure conservation remains and unifying force in our state. ” said Paulekas.
